COVID 19

We are living in very difficult times and we are very mindful of the added stress for migrants to the UK who may be worrying about family overseas.  The best thing we can all do at the moment is to follow the NHS Advice:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Doctors of the World have translated the advice into 20 languages, do have a look and share:

https://www.doctorsoftheworld.org.uk/coronavirus-information

For financial advice including explanations of the different government schemes, what to do if you have cancelled a trip or you were planning to move accommodation, go to:

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com

Please make sure you follow the right advice. There are a lot of hoax emails at the moment e.g. ones pretending to be from HMRC saying you have a tax refund or one saying you can tell if you have coronavirus if you can hold your breath for 10 seconds. Not True!  There are also hoax texts that look like they are sent from the police giving fines for breaching the rules. Ignore them. We need to eat healthily but there are no known foods or substances that cure or prevent coronavirus, contrary to some claims that you can find on the internet.   There are different fact checking sites such as https://www.thatsnonsense.com/ which are worth looking at.

In the meantime, if you have story to share about how you are keeping in close contact with family overseas or how you are managing in the pandemic, we would love to hear from you.

We are planning some online events so keep an eye on the website.

Stay safe, keep washing your hands and maintaining social distance (make sure there is 2 metres between you and anyone else).   If we all keep following the advice, the less likely we are to become ill and to infect others and we can start our everyday lives again.
