  1. dHear Our Stories is an anthology of writings on migration brought to you by TogetherintheUK and Victorina Press featuring 38 migrant and refugee authors.
  2. Material for the anthology came from a writing competition organised by TogetherintheUK in 2020.
  3. The authors wrote a powerful mixture of stories, essays, and poems. One reviewer said, ‘I found myself inspired, horrified, filled with compassion and simultaneously amazed by the resilience implicit in its many deeply personal stories’.
  4. With an overall hook – the difference between you and me is a passport – each of the five chapters has a different theme. Through the anthology, you (the reader) will experience: The Journey, Getting Granted (being awarded a visa), Discrimination, Making a Life and finally, Relationship with Country of Origin. All these topics are part of the migrant journey to a new life in a new country.

Each chapter is introduced by well-known thinkers and activists in the field of migration:- Lord Alf Dubs ( WW2 Kinderstransport child refugee and now a powerful advocate for refugees  Jonathan Portes: Professor of Economcs and Public Policy – author of ‘What do we know and what should we do about immigration?  Anna Pincus: founder and co-ordinator of Refugee Tales, and Director of Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group, Nazek Ramadan, founder and Executive Director of Migrant Voice, and Dr Alexandra Bulat a British Romanian County Councillor and Migrants Rights specialist.
  6. The book editors are Teresa Norman, Sinéad Mangan-Mc Hale and Consuelo Rivera-Fuentes.

  8. The launch was held at the Romanian Cultural Centre, I Belgrave Square, London in September, 2023. Some of the authors’ read their work and guest speakers discussed the anthology. Speakers include Dr Alexandra Bulat (keynote) Professor Jonathan Portes, Nazek Ramadan, Adina Maglan (CEO and Co-founder of the Romanian and East European Hub and Director of the Social Equity Centre) and Sinéad Mangan-Mc Hale (Communications Consultant | Corporate and Social Copywriter and Editor).
  9. The authors found it a rich and rewarding experience being published, one said she felt seen and another went on to publish a book, having been given confidence in her writing.
